§ 1 Privacy policy

Data controller

The controller of personal data is the Foundation for the Virtualisation of National Cultural Heritage, registered office at ul. Krótka 4, 66-400 Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland, entered in the National Court Register (KRS) under number 0000659313, tax ID (NIP) 5993194206, statistical ID (REGON) 366372778. Public Benefit Organisation status.

What data we collect

The site has no registration, no contact forms and no shopping basket. In the local storage of your browser we save a single technical key:

• fwndk-pre — a note that the introduction to the exhibition has already been shown, so that it is not replayed on every visit. The data never leaves your device and is not visible to our servers.

The hosting server keeps standard access logs (IP address, request date, browser type) on the basis of our legitimate interest in the security and diagnostics of the service.

What we do NOT collect

• No cookies — the site never calls the document.cookie mechanism
• No analytics — there is no Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible or any other counter
• No advertising pixels — Meta Pixel, Google Ads and DoubleClick are absent
• No profiling and no fingerprinting — we do not identify your device or your browser
• No special-category data within the meaning of Article 9 GDPR

Connections to external servers

• fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com — the Space Grotesk and IBM Plex Mono typefaces (Google Ireland Ltd.)
• unpkg.com — the three.js library that drives the presentation of the 3D models (Cloudflare Inc.)

The Fraunces typeface and all images, models and in-house scripts are served from our own infrastructure. Moving the remaining resources onto our server is planned — once that is done, the site will call no third-party domain at all.

How long we keep it

The fwndk-pre key stays in the browser until the user clears the site data. Server logs — up to 12 months.

Who we share it with

No one. We do not sell, rent out or pass data to third parties. The exception is our hosting provider as a processor, and authorities empowered by law.

Your rights (GDPR, Articles 15–22)

You have the right of access to your data, and to its rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and to object. You may lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, Poland. Requests sent to the address above are handled within 30 days.

Security

Transmission runs over HTTPS. Digital assets are made available in a streaming model — full-resolution source files never leave the foundation's infrastructure.

§ 2 Cookie policy

What we use instead of cookies

The only state we store — the note that the introduction has been seen — goes into the browser's localStorage. That mechanism works solely on your device: unlike a cookie, it is never attached to a network request, so our servers never see it.

What we do NOT use

• Third-party cookies — no advertising networks
• Behaviour-tracking cookies — no Hotjar, Clarity or Mouseflow
• Browser and device fingerprinting

How to clear the stored state

In your browser: Settings → Privacy and security → Site data → search for biegas.org → Delete. Once cleared, the introduction to the exhibition will play again.

§ 3 Copyright and licence

Legal status of the works

Bolesław Biegas died on 30 September 1954. Under Article 36 of the Polish Act on Copyright and Related Rights, economic copyright expires seventy years after the author's death, counted from the end of the calendar year — Biegas's works have therefore been in the public domain since 1 January 2025. Moral rights, including the right of attribution and the right to the integrity of the work, never expire.

Licence for the digital reproductions

The three-dimensional models, gigapixel photographs, object-record texts and descriptive material of this site are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC 4.0). You may use them for educational and research purposes provided you give attribution. Commercial use requires separate permission — as a matter of mission policy, the foundation does not sell licences.

How the material is served

Resources are streamed: three-dimensional models in browser-optimised versions, images as tiles whose resolution follows the level of zoom. Full-resolution files and raw measurement data are not available for download. Research requests for access to the source data are considered case by case.

What already works

• Full keyboard navigation — Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Escape
• A visible focus indicator on every interactive element
• Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion setting — animation switches itself off
• An accessibility panel with a high-contrast mode, text enlargement and link underlining
• schema.org semantics — VisualArtwork, CollectionPage, BreadcrumbList
• Alternative descriptions for images and ARIA labels on controls
• Filter result counts announced by screen readers (aria-live)
• The collection catalogue works without JavaScript — the full grid and index are in the page source
• Typography follows Polish typesetting rules — non-breaking spaces after single-letter conjunctions

What is still missing

• Audio description of the sculptures for blind visitors
• English and French versions — the language switcher is an announcement for now
• A text alternative to the three-dimensional presentation — a description of the form for those who cannot use interactive graphics
• A full external audit by a certified specialist

Keyboard shortcuts

• Tab / Shift+Tab — move between elements
• Enter / Space — activate a button or a link
• Esc — close the chronology, the menu and the tool panels
• / — put the cursor in the collection catalogue search box
• F — full screen in the viewer for three-dimensional models

Reporting problems

If you meet a barrier — a page unreadable to a screen reader, contrast that is too low, a missing alternative description, navigation that cannot be done from the keyboard — write to pb@wirtualnedziedzictwo.pl. We reply within 14 days. You are also entitled to file a request for accessibility to be provided, and a complaint to the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons (PFRON).

Every material change to this document will be announced on the site fourteen days in advance. The version in force is marked with a date in the header.

What you may use without asking

• Visualisations of the objects shown on the site, with attribution
• Object-record texts, in whole or in part, with the source given
• Screenshots of the site in material about the project
• The foundation's emblem and name in the context of information about the exhibition

Worth knowing when writing about the project

• The collection comprises 48 works: 38 sculptures as three-dimensional models and 10 paintings in gigapixel photography
• The sculptures were digitised by spatial scanning; the models published online carry about 112,000 vertices and 197,000 triangles each
• The collection belongs to the Polish Library in Paris and remains on long-term deposit at the Mazovian Museum in Płock
• The physical exhibition has been open since 28 April 2022 in the Art Nouveau tenement at ul. Tumska 8 in Płock
